چکیده
M oday, Sptem er 6, 2016 ConCluSionS: Xenografting appears to be a reasonable option for patients with partial-thickness scald injuries. The cost, LOS, HAIs, and ICU days for the Xenografting cohort fell in-between the Non-Op and Autografting cohorts, as would be expected. While non-operative management may be appropriate for small/superficial burns, and Autografting may be required for large/deep burns, xenografting provides rapid wound closure. Xenografting also permits earlier hospital discharge, reduces need for reconstruction, and should strongly be considered as first line therapy for intermediatedepth pediatric scald injuries.

Outcomes in Complex Ventral Hernia Repair with Component Separation and Concomitant Panniculectomy
Background: Patients undergoing ventral hernia repair (VHR) with separation of components (SOC) often require or request concurrent panniculectomy. However, the impact of panniculectomy on outcomes is incompletely understood. We aim to compare hernia recurrence and complications in VHR with SOC utilizing a vertical incision (VI) versus panniculectomy (P). Methods: A retrospective review of patie...

INTRODUCTION: There is a growing interest in identifying provider and hospital characteristics associated with improved patient outcomes for surgical procedures. Increased operative volume has been associated with benefits in patient centric and economic outcomes for a variety of surgical procedures. In ventral hernia repair, however, there has been a paucity of studies assessing the associatio...
متن کاملUmbilical Transposition in Functional Panniculectomy of the Massive Weight Loss Patient: Is It Aesthetic or Medically Necessary?
BACKGROUND We review the procedures used in panniculectomy and explore the necessity of umbilical transposition when adequately treating the medical and functional problems associated with panniculus in the massive weight loss patient. METHODS Thirty-five consecutive patients with symptomatic panniculus after massive weight loss undergoing panniculectomy during the time period from November 2...

in 20 (11.2%). Patient post-operative follow-up averaged 15.5 months. Analysis of 11 recurrences yielded significant differences between GroupsB and C (p<0.009), a trend towards significance between Groups-A and C (p<0.058), and no difference between Groups-A and B (p<0.608). Retromuscular mesh placement and anterior components separation demonstrated protective effects on recurrence (OR: 0.148...
